Satellite Finding Improvements.
Finding the satellite is always easy with a commercial spectrum analyser but not every one has the money for this.
The good news is, now you don’t need one. Unless you are in the business of professional installations which require a calibrated instrument the ClearSat SF 3280 finder will easily locate the Digital Video Broadcast Satellite of your choice.
Set up your tripod correctly so that the mast is perpendicular and stable, learn the methodology, work in a logical and sequential way and you just can’t miss the transponder.
This instrument is in another class and now allows you to start experimenting with the lesser known services on other satellites.
All you need is a generic satellite decoder, and, if you wish to subscribe to subscription services, the vendor’s smart card and an Conditional Access Module, (CAM), to permit service de-encryption.
PinkTronix takes pride in leaving portable satellite kit customers with a sense of operational certainty and technical independence, and therefore does not supply non positive ID sat finders.
More Satellite Channels.
Now that you have a positive I.D. sat finder it’s time to start experimenting while you are waiting for the creek crossing to become passable.
There are some good news and current affairs channels out there on OPTUS D2. as well as 13 channels of Evangelical TV…all free.
The table from a previous page will give you a guide to what’s out there in addition to VAST and AUSTAR.
More in depth info can be found at http://www.pinktronix.com.au/satellite-entertainment.htm
The ClearSat 3230 PVR Ready MPEG2, MPEG4 , High Definition Generic Satellite Decoder will decode these transmissions for you.
PVR capability is via front USB port so you can record some political duck shoving from abroad via satellite D2 when the dish is free and watch it later, even if your dish is hooked up to Home and Away from VAST via C1.
Every one is a winner, you, the Missus, the kids, and the advertisers on Home and Away.
More Cables, Better Cables.
Order a complete cable set, replace an existing cable or have one custom made to length.
The picture on left shows the standard cable set for PinkTronix installations and kits.
For single LNB kits, one each of the following lengths is supplied.
16 metres, 6 metres, 1.5 metres.
MYSTAR Dual LNB installations will require a double cable set.
All PinkTronix R.V. installations are “MYSTAR Ready” with dual cabling from dish junction box to internal wall plate as standard.
A 1.5 metre cable is also supplied with the ClearSat SF 3280 Satellite Finder when purchasing a kit.
All PinkTronix cables are FOXTEL Approved Quad Shield RG 6 terminated with FOXTEL approved weatherproof compression connectors.
A satellite grade F type female barrel is supplied with each cable so the cable can be stored as weather proof with protection to the centre conductor.
The FOXTEL approved connecters have two “O” rings, one external one internal. A twin compression lock completes the seal around the cable.
The barrels are also handy if extreme cases of vegetation dictate the use of every cable you have to find an aperture to the satellite.
(Note: The attenuation of extremely long cable runs may reduce the satellite signal to below the decoder detection threshold in some circumstances.)
Always store your cables with the barrel to weather proof and protect the centre conductor. Never store with barrel if moisture is present inside the connecter.
Avoid sharp bends and kinks especially near the connecter. A badly kinked cable may appear to work under ideal conditions but it will no longer perform to original specification.
Illustration to the right shows external “O” ring in F connecter and correct method of cable storage.
