Christian Television ChannelsCarl Sagan presents Pale Blue Dot with an introduction by Nobel Laureate Doctor Steven Chu.

From this distant vantage point, the Earth might not seem of any particular interest.

But for us, it's different.

Consider again that dot.
That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives.

The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there - on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena.

Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors, so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot.

Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.

Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Free TV Australia

Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark.

In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves.

The Earth is the only world known so far to harbor life.

There is nowhere else, at least in the near future, to which our species could migrate.
Visit yes. Settle, not yet.
Like it or not, for the moment the Earth is where we make our stand.
It has been said that astronomy is a humbling and character building experience.

There is perhaps no better demonstration of the folly of human conceits than this distant image of our tiny world.
To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.

Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space

PinkTronix can supply and install quality satellite reception systems to receive religious and / or ethnic TV transmissions from any satellite with an Australian footprint.

The sub one metre dishes used with Ku Band transmissions have largely replaced the bulky 1.8 metre and 2.3 metre dishes required for the C band platform for most direct to home services, either subscription or free.

PinkTronix can install dishes and decoders for either platform.

C band has a greater rain fade margin than the higher frequencies of the Ku Band but the C band dish installation is more expensive.
There may be some advantage in installing a C band dish to receive un-encrypted programming but perhaps it should be borne in mind that there is no guarantee that the services will remain in place or remain unencrypted for ever.

Avid watchers of Japan's NHK from Optus D2 will be all too familiar with this. This service which had been unencrypted for some considerable time was encrypted during 2013, rendering useless any installation which had been set up for the express purpose of viewing this channel only.

At the time of writing NHK was still available unencrypted from Intellsat 19 on C Band ...but for how long?

A WORD OF CAUTION ON SATELLITE DECODERS.

Not all decoders are created equal and there are still some being offered which are many years out of date. These decoders may be only recently manufactured but they do not contain the latest in software or video connections as the technology is changing so fast.
Some of these older decoders are not fully compatible with high resolution television sets and will display an inferior image when compared to a modern machine. This problem is especially evident on the larger high resolution TV sets.
Some may not have the latest rescan technology or complete CODEC software.

You may find limitations in playing back programs from a USB stick loaded with material from another device with these older boxes.

For this reason PinkTronix does not maintain a stock of generic satellite decoders.
PinkTronix will order your decoder when you request an installation and will only install state of the art equipment or the approved smart card/decoder combinations as required by subscription TV companies.
